Warp
A terminal and cloud agent platform that helps automate software development
Warp is a platform for AI-assisted software development. The pages call it "an open agentic development platform" that is built to work wherever and however you work. It comes in three parts: a terminal, an Agent CLI, and Factories.
The terminal is open-source and made for AI-assisted development. The Agent CLI is a coding agent that works in any terminal. Factories is a fleet of agents tied to your software development process. Work can start from an issue, a Slack message, or a schedule, and the agents carry it through review to a pull request that's ready to merge. You define a factory in code, in a factory.yaml file. You can use your own model or agent tool, like Claude Code or Codex. The pages say you can download Warp for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Factories is available by requesting access.
What it does
- Define your agent setup in code and keep it in your repo like other configsource: warp.dev
- Agents take work from tools like Slack, Linear, Jira, GitHub and GitLabsource: warp.dev
- Agents capture a screenshot or video so you can check their work before shippingsource: warp.dev
- Every run is scored, and observer agents propose config improvementssource: warp.dev
- Choose Warp's cloud or host everything in your own VPCsource: warp.dev
- Set how much freedom agents have, from approving every step to full autonomysource: warp.dev
Our take (opinion)
Best for
- 💻 Developers who want an AI-assisted terminal with a free starting plan
- 🏢 Engineering teams that want agents to handle tasks like dependency bumps from their existing tools
- 🔧 Teams that want to bring their own model or coding agent
Watch out for
- 💰 Agent usage is billed on top of plans, so costs can vary with how much you use it
- 🔑 Factories needs a request for access, and it's aimed at developers and engineering teams, not beginners
- ⚠️ Several pricing tiers exist for Terminal and Factories, so check which one you need
