Cursor

A coding agent that helps you plan, write and review software

Visit CursorFree plan + paid planssource: cursor.com

Cursor is a coding agent for building software. Its own site calls it "your coding agent for building ambitious software." The pages show it on your desktop, in your terminal, in Slack and in GitHub. The site lists Anysphere, Inc. in its copyright line.

You hand a task to an agent, like building a dashboard or fixing a parser, and then you review the result. The site says agents can run in parallel, so several jobs can go at once. You can also pick from models by OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, SpaceXAI, and Cursor. To start, you download the app for macOS or install the command-line tool. Many of the pages' examples are written for people who already code, so beginners may find it technical.

What it does

Our take (opinion)

Best for

  • 💻 Developers who want an A.I. agent to take on coding tasks while they review the work
  • 👥 Software teams that want an agent in Slack, GitHub and the terminal
  • 🧑‍🎓 Curious coders who want to try a free plan first

Watch out for

  • 💰 Third-party models are billed separately by usage, so costs can grow beyond the monthly price
  • 📚 The free plan has limited A.I. usage
  • 🧩 The pricing page mixes in Grok and X features, which can be confusing
